Digoxin is a cardiac glycoside used to treat congestive heart failure and certain arrhythmias in dogs. It has a narrow margin of safety and can be toxic at doses just above the therapeutic range. Overdose can cause severe cardiac arrhythmias, gastrointestinal upset, and neurological symptoms. This medication should only be given under close veterinary supervision, with regular monitoring of blood levels and ECG. Symptoms of toxicity warrant immediate veterinary care.
